I overcame my hesistancy of going up into my attic and installed a Chameleon EMCOMM II V2 antenna in my attic.
Yow! It worked great, although I was admittedly scared most of the time up there.
Chameleon phone support recommended I install RFI chokes on both ends of my coaxial cable as well as a counterpoise wire.
WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
The RFI chokes granted me access to the 80 meter and 160 meter bands for FT8.
The counterpoise seemed to give my transmissions an extra 0.2 or 0.4 boost in S meter signal strength on the Icom 7300.
Heading back up into the attic to try to install a VHF/UHF antenna...
